Introduction of Jewelbug Corgis and our Breeding Philosophy

I am a preservation breeder. My goal is to preserve this breed at its finest, and this is my great passion—not my job.

Every day, I continue to study the breed, participate in the platforms and communities available to me, and connect with breeders who share the same values and commitment to preserving it.

I am a small hobby breeder, focused on producing only a few high-quality dogs with excellent temperament, soundness, conformation, and true breed type. Above all, our dogs are family members. They live with us in our home, as part of our everyday lives—we do not kennel our dogs.

Pedigrees & Thoughtful Breeding

Protecting pedigrees is extremely important to me, and it is something I take very seriously. I build relationships with people who share the same commitment to responsible breeding and the preservation of the breed.

I carefully plan every litter with the goal of producing healthy, sound puppies that represent a genuine step forward for the breed. Breeding decisions involve extensive pedigree research, health considerations, and careful strategic evaluation. Finding the right combination can take months or even years and may require looking globally for the right breeding partner.

The goal of responsible breeding should always be to produce a next generation that is at least as good as—and ideally better than—the generation before it.

For me, quality will always come before quantity. This is essential to genuine breed preservation. As a result, I will never have many litters per year, and I may not have a puppy available immediately. Reserving one of our puppies may therefore require time, patience, and understanding.

Breed Type Before Titles

My breeding decisions are based on the dogs themselves and on my long-term breeding goals. Show success alone will never determine whether I consider a dog suitable for my program.

If I find a male who truly represents my type, has an excellent pedigree, sound health and temperament, and complements my female exceptionally well, I would choose him even if he has no show titles. I would make that choice before breeding to a World Winner simply because of his titles if he does not represent the type I am trying to preserve.

Titles are valuable, but they are only one part of the picture.

Shows & Staying True to Our Goals

My dogs will not always win at shows—and that is something I accept.

Sometimes there will simply be a better dog on the day, and I will happily acknowledge that. Other times, the result may reflect factors beyond the dog itself, such as presentation, handling, or personal preferences. I may be disappointed, but I will always try to learn from the experience and continue improving.

I do not believe in building superficial or hypocritical relationships simply for the sake of winning. I would rather stay true to my dogs, my principles, and my breeding goals.

Ultimately, I hope that, at least sometimes, a truly great dog will be enough to speak for itself.

Our puppies are not simply something we produce and sell. They are the result of years of research, planning, passion, and love for the breed—and we want to make sure they go to homes that value them just as deeply.
